I’ve been playing around with the idea of creating some Invading Holland t-shirts and other stuff (mugs, mouse mats, etc) for a while now and I wanted to show you (my brilliant readers) a few early examples and ask; what do you think? Is this something that would seem interesting? Is there anything else you would like to see? All feedback is welcome.

Also, does anyone know anything about getting stuff like this made?

    Brilliant!

    Love the last one.

    When can I order?

  2. Priscilla Oostrom says:

Oh yes, I love the first and the last! Why not make one with the EK theme? (Marketing person speaking here… ;-))

  3. Iooryz says:

as a dutch person, i love the last one!

  4. Fabio says:

haha I see Dutch people is hilarious! I would totally get some of that stuff!

  5. Lady in Red says:

They look great to me :) I enjoy the one that presumably demands you to stop speaking English lol

As to getting them made – check out zazzle.com It seems to be one of the most popular sites for this sort of thing – and is definitely very easy. Also, you won’t be limited to just your viewers as zazzle has a lot of its own customers.

    Hope it works out! :)

  6. Alison says:

I like the Happily Integrated Expat one, but they’re all fun. Great idea!
Cafe Press and Red Bubble are the two random places I know of where you can have various items made.

  7. AstridQK says:

I love the second and last one! When will they be available?

  8. Invader Stu says:

Canalrat & AstridQK – I still have to look into how I’m going to get them made and any legal stuff to do with selling from my website but I’m hoping not too long :)

Priscilla Oostrom – I might be making myself look silly here but What is EK theme?

Iooryz – Hehe. It’s good to hear I have not offended :p

    Fabio – Thank you :)

Lady in Red – Thank you for the info. And yes, it basically translates to “Stop replying to me in English!” :p

    Alsion – thanks :)

  9. Terri says:

“I see Dutch people”…still laughing and yeah, I would buy one.

(I’m also curious about what the EK theme is. Any idea?)

  10. the wife says:

    EK= european championship football ;p

  11. Wezz6400 says:

Well, the “integrated” part of the t-shirt is a blatant lie if you don’t know what the EK is. :p Also, you’re our self-proclaimed king, how did you not know you’re expected to show up on all matches? Have you had your measles-shots yet?

On a more serious note, I love the idea, and the last one certainly is hilarious. I’d buy it, given there’s an option for another color than white. I understand these are just backgrounds for the design, just saying I’m not too fond of white t-shirts. :)

  12. Martin says:

I love the first one, maybe you can put on the back of the T-shirt the text “let’s party” and the character with the cone on his head.
Great to wear when visiting circle parties again, maybe it will start something or at least let people think (^_^).

  13. Matthew says:

LOL! This is a great site.

  14. Srpen says:

    I’ll take a case each of #2 and #5.

  15. Maxim says:

I’d like to but several “Happily Integrated Expat” T-shirts.

    Seriously.

  16. Invader Stu says:

Thanks for the hugely positive reaction everyone. It’s really made me realize I need to start making them for real. I’m going to start investigating how and where I can get these things printed and any legal stuff I have to sort out about selling them from this blog. Watch this space and thank you once again.

Terri – Turns out it is the european championship football. I had no clue.

Wezz6400 – Originally I was thinking of put on that tshirt ‘Integration 78% complete’ Maybe that fits better after all :p Oh yes, I want to look into other colours as well. Especially with my pale skin.

    Martin – Brilliant idea :)

    Mathew – Thank you

Srpen & Maxim – Let me know if you would like me to contact you when I have some ready :)

  17. VallyP says:

At last!! It’s about time you did this, Stu. These are great and I think you would have an instant market for them. There are loads of companies who do this kind of thing as silk screen printers, but a lot of ‘corporate’ gift companies do it too.

  18. suus says:

Honestly, I think the ‘‘Integration 78% complete’ would work very well!

  19. suus says:

I like to add: I think also Dutch people with a sense of humor could wear that. I take it you want to adress a big market. The ‘I see Dutch people’ is great, but for me personally, it’s an old movie joke. One that some won’t get either. Although.. It could work still perhaps, in an absurd way. Anyway, great idea Stu, but don’t get head over heals.

  20. Iooryz says:

if you would offended me with that t-shirt, I would have stopped reading your blog a long time ago.

    2 extra questions tho,
    – do you want me to reply in Dutch now? Or do you prefer English?
    – will wooden shoes be available as well?

  21. Joey says:

Oh man, I want the “I see dutch people” shirt for when I go abroad. (because no matter WHERE you go, you will always meet other dutch people)

  22. Feba says:

Mooi!!! :) can I order the “Stop met terug praten in het Engels”? It happens all the time! :)))

  23. James says:

I really want the STOP met terug praten in het Engels – this represents my strong feelings!

  24. Amanda says:

    LOL!!! Yes!!!

  25. Jules says:

I like “Happily Integrated Expat” and “I see Dutch people”. I’m not sure I could wear “Stop met terug praten in het Engels”, because there are some people whose Dutch I simply cannot comprehend for some reason. My obstetrician, for instance, has a very weird accent that I just can’t understand.

  26. Stu, if you get these shirts made, I will happily buy one. And once I get a job, I will get all five of them.

  27. Joka says:

    Great idea!
Just fyi: terugpraten should be a single word.

  28. Dane says:

I think they are all fun, especially the circle parties ones. I really hate those. I must however say that I mainly have the problem that the Dutch interprete my danish accent as a german accent and starts speaking back to me in german, not english.

  29. Zed says:

I love the last one. Are you going to do mugs too? And I’m most disappointed that there isn’t a tshirt about lifts…..;-)

Great work – and you have my email re: CafePress and Printshop.co.uk (I think the latter are rubbish) – let me know when the shop goes up! From what I remember, you can keep adding designs – so start with one and then at your ease.

  30. Invader Stu says:

VallyP – Thank you. And you’ll be happy to hear I am still working on the book too :p

Suus – I might do the 78% one too :)

Iooryz – Er… er… Maybe English… Just for the other readers of course. I’d be able to follow you comments fine because my Dutch is so amazing. I’m just thinking of everyone else… Yeah, that’s it (Clogs would be great too :D)

Joey – You’re not kidding either. I now pride myself on being able to spot Dutch people while I’m on holiday.

James & Feba – I can let you know as soon as they are ready :)

Jules – I think I would get myself into trouble with not being able to understand people if I wore it myself too :p

Barb the French Bean – You should make some too

Joka – Thanks for the heads up

Dane – And I thought the circle parties I went to were bad :p

Zed – Yes. I was thinking about mugs and mouse mats :) I might just start with tshirts first and see how it goes. And thank you very much for the info :)

  31. Pia Desselle says:

I so want the “I see Dutch people” T-shirt!

  32. Sandra says:

I like all of them but especially the 3rd and the 4th ones! ;-)

  33. Brendan says:

“Stop met terugpraten in het Engels!”
    Ge-wel-dig!

    Ik wil er één!!
    :-)
