Best European Blog – Runner Up

When I was nominated for a Bloggie I was over the moon. I was thrilled and honoured to be finalist amongst so many brilliant and amazing blogs. I felt like the excited and proud little kid who had been allowed to stay up passed his bedtime one night amongst ‘the adults’.

And although I might have not won I am still thrilled and honoured to be on of the runner-up (inner little kid in me is still extremely happy). Huge congratulations to the winner Tallblokes’s Talkshop.

And I am still extremely grateful. Invading Holland has been getting so much amazing attention lately which it could not have achieved without your support. An article in Het Parool, an appearance on Dutch television, amazing reviews, articles on IamExpat and being a finalist in the famous Bloggies. I could not be happier.

So I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has ever clicked on, visited, read, browsed, followed, shared, bookmarked, searched for, linked to and/or commented on this blog. You have helped make it what it is today not only by continuing to make it so much fun to write (and draw) but by also help my crazy adventures and strange observations to reach new people.

Thank you to all my readers, thank you to all the bloggers I have got to know, thank you to all my friends and most of all, thank you to the Dutch. Without you and your strange quarks I’d have a lot less to write about.

“Strange quarks?” There are more of the third-lightest quark in Holland than in the rest of the universe now?

    No really, congrats!

  5. Congratulations, Stu! I bet you will win it next year!

(The little kid in me is kicking and screaming on the ground in a fit. I’ve shut her up with cookies.)

I also checked out the interview; I’m now convinced that having to Frogger your way across Dutch streets is genuinely more dangerous than in pedestrian-unfriendly Miami. o_O

  6. I think you mean ‘strange quirks’ .. unless you have also been researching the Dutch at a subatomic level?

Congratulations! Being nominated is already a huge achievement, winning would’ve been the cherry on top. But your blog is just a good without that cherry ;-) Keep up the good blogging!

Ha sorry I keep forgetting not everyone’s as big a dork as me- there are six different flavors (ie types) of quarks in fundamental particle physics that make up all matter, and they are called up, down, top, bottom, strange, and charm. (The words are fairly random but “quark” comes to us from Joyce’s Finnigan’s Wake… and as a result there is a Canadian science program called “Quirks and Quarks” and I used to write a science column called “Quarked.”) So when you wrote “without you and your strange quarks…” that’s what my mind turned to. :)

See, aren’t you glad you picked me to be the Science Minister?
