Quote of the Week: Monday

Quote

The following takes place between the hours of 11pm and 12pm one night of this week while standing in my kitchen after a long day of working late with out a weekend.

Me
(Feeling sleepy)
“Working all this overtime is really messing with my sense of what day of the week it is. I keep on forgetting it’s only Monday.”

Flat Mate
(Pausing to check if I really am that dumb)
“But it’s Tuesday.”

Me
(Pausing and trying to act as if I just said nothing)
“Er… working all this overtime is really messing with my sense of what day of the week it is. I keep on forgetting it’s only Tuesday.”

Flat Mate
(Not convinced)
“Rightttttt.”

Stuart

Stuart is an accident prone Englishman who has been living in the Netherlands since 2001. Even his move to the country was an unintentional accident, the result of replying to a cryptic job advertisement he found one day in a local British magazine. Since then he has learned to love the Dutch (so much so that he married one of them) and now calls the country home. He started the blog Invading Holland in 2006 as a place to share his strange stories of language misunderstandings, cultural confusions and his own accident prone nature.

You used to live for those long working days. They were an adventure. Now you’re getting OLD! MWAHAHAHAHA!

  2. Tess says:

Sounds like you need a break! So if you won’t take one I’ll come over and make you have one… :p

Isn’t it time for an early bi-annual evening at a certain sushi hangout soon? ;)

  3. Anneke says:

Well, join the club I would say. Though my disoreantation isn’t due to working overtime, but partying overtime… (Yeah, fun things can mess up your mind too)

  4. Keith says:

When you get old the brain is the second thing to go. (I can’t remember what the first thing is).

  5. Cléa says:

    But it’s already Thursday! :P

  6. Brother Tobias says:

I know how you felt! It’s the routine what keeps us on track. If I’m ever taken prisoner they won’t need torture; just take me to Lidls on the wrong day, and I’m a disoriented mess.

Jake – I think you might be right but you are still older then me :p

Tess – I think it is and I bet you the same green beans will still be there.

Cléa – Isn’t Friday or Saturday now? :p

Anneke – But they are more fun :p

    Keith – Neither can I.

Brother Tobias – That would be torture.

You did announce first you had no clue what day of the week it was, so you could be pardonnned for your mosjudgement about what day was actually in the process of occuring. But I do wonder why you didn’t notice your Sunday off?
