Photos Uit Amsterdam: Is This You?

Spotted sellotaped to the tram stop at Koningspein in Amsterdam:

Is This You

I foresee two possible outcomes.

One will result in a very touching scene between a father and son a few years from now when the inquisitive young boy asks how mummy met daddy. The proud father will put his paper and pipe down, pick up the young boy and sit him down on his knee. As they sit together next to the fire in the father’s favourite old leather armchair he starts to tell his son a most wonderful story about a romantic search across an entire city to find the girl who had quite unexpectedly taken his breath away one summer day on tram number five. It is the kind of epic love story that poems and novels are written about. It is a story that stays with the young boy. It shapes and forms many of his own thoughts and ideas about love which eventually lead to him meeting his own wife many more years later… and then, a few more years later still, it is a story he tells to his own children about how grandmother met grandfather…

That or a lengthy court case resulting in a restraining order. It could go either way.

Let’s hope it has the happy ending! It’s certainly creative!

  2. Jules says:

It’s like craigslist, but not as creepy or scam-ish.

  3. orangesplaash says:

I would rather picture it in the first way..

  4. Andrew says:

I really hope it’s the first option.. “bling bling” certainly makes me hopeful about the artist’s character.

  5. Invader_Stu says:

Alison – Oh yes. He certainly earns points on creativity.

Amy – It would be funny if that happened with this, if she was a reader of my blog and found it that way.

Jules – I’ve never tried Craigslist but the things I have heard sound scary.

    Orangesplaash – Me too.

Andrew – I did think the mention of bling bling was a nice touch. It made me chuckle a little.

Whichever way it goes, the girl certainly has style. Pink dress with grey leggings? I would *so* wear that!

Hm. Come to think of it, I have dark brown hair and I like red nail polish too…

But I draw the line at wearing flip-flops in public and I wouldn’t call my watch “bling-bling.” I’ve also never been to Holland so, no, it certainly wasn’t me. ;-P

  7. Efrutik says:

Can you please like have a stand up show or something or a radio show! That would be insanely funny as if now you are already not!

I think it’s sort of romantic in a cute way you know. I mean I don’t think I would have called back and all but still he actually put some effort into drawing that picture. But gosh that dress is hideous!

  8. Invader Stu says:

French Bean – Awwww. For a moment there I thought we had helped find this guy his dream girl. Could you wear flip flops and pretend to have been to Holland? I’m sure we would make him very happy.

Efrutik – Hehe. Thank you very much :)

I can’t help but see the slightly romantic side in it as well but I wonder what it must feel like for that girl if she spots it.

  9. French Bean says:

Lol. I don’t think I could pull it off, Stu. The only things I remember saying in Dutch are “zakje” and “Charlie.” :-P

  10. Anita says:

Oooooh… Certainly option number one ! This poster is sooooo cute !!

  11. Aledys Ver says:

It is too creative to come from a sick person? Am I too naïve? :D
This guy (or girl) also watches too much tv!!!

  12. Invader_Stu says:

French Bean – Then you are already half way there :p

    Anita – Thank you :)

Aledys Ver – That is a good argument and of course I keep on assuming it is a guy but it could be a girl. It is Amsterdam after all.

  13. VallyP says:

Hmm Stu, maybe she just accidentally (on purpose) walked off with his (and it has to be a his) marmite…now to any Englishman( and with that humour, he must be English…sorry cloggies!) that would be worth making an effort for, no?

  14. Invader_Stu says:

VallyP – That’s another good take on it I had not thought of. Maybe she is in fact his nemesis. A master Marmite thief that he is trying to track down.

  15. Kat says:

At first I thought the “english” pointing to her mouth meant she had bad teeth. lol I feel sheepish now.

  16. Rose says:

I love this… it is so creative and well cute (if it falls under the first story). Thanks for the smile today… it was needed!

  17. VallyP says:

There’s a whole story waiting behind that idea, isn’t there Stu? 5 challenge you…hee hee…Invading Holland meets the Master Monster Marmite thief…yay!!!

  18. A Touch of Dutch blog says:

Wow… I wonder how many {crank} calls they received.

  19. Invader Stu says:

Kat – He must have been really impressed if it was her teeth and he still wants to find her.

Rose – No problem. And thank you for the compliment :)

VallyP – It could be a how series of detective novels :p

A Touch of Dutch – Oh, I bet a lot.

  20. Just a Plane Ride Away says:

I vote for story #1, though story #2 might be better TV.

Just a Plane Ride Away – and a better court trail
