My Day Job Making Computer Games

Some of you might have been wondering what I do for a day job. Am I Superhero? A ninja? A pirate? A spy? A super hero ninja pirate spy? Well I can finally reveal what I have been doing to pay the rent for the last few months because my latest project has been announced:

I’m a designer on the Killzone computer game franchise. That’s right, I get to play computer games and call it research. My day job involves making computer games.

Stuart

Stuart is an accident prone Englishman who has been living in the Netherlands since 2001. Even his move to the country was an unintentional accident, the result of replying to a cryptic job advertisement he found one day in a local British magazine. Since then he has learned to love the Dutch (so much so that he married one of them) and now calls the country home. He started the blog Invading Holland in 2006 as a place to share his strange stories of language misunderstandings, cultural confusions and his own accident prone nature.

Anita – You just made my day with that comment. Hehehe. Amanda can confirm that all my stories are true.

    Heather – Very true.

Meta, Wezz6400, Dave Hampton – A lot of my job involves level design. I get design the layout of the level, the story behind them and the event that happen with in them. My whole focus is on gameplay and making it fun. Then I work with an artist to make the level look pretty. I’m not just limited to level either. I design a gameplay mechanics and features as well, what you can do as a play and things like that. Then I have to organise everything and make sure the level comes together as it should.
