Don’t Panic

We all knew this might happen one day. We all knew the risks involved. We all understood the consequences.

There is no point assigning blame or pointing fingers now. It won’t help to bicker about whose fault it is. We’re all in this together now. Panicking won’t solve anything either no matter how easy it feels to give in to it. The important thing now is to remain calm. We can get through this if we just stick together.

Yes. We must remain calm and… and.. deal with this as responsible, mature adults. We just have to accept that it has happened because panicking will not change the fact that I, Invader Stu, am going to become a father.

Yes. You read it right. In just a few months (October in fact) I will be busy changing nappies and drinking enough caffeine to raise the dead.

I could not be more excited… absolutely terrified but excited.

I can only assume that the cartoon version of Stu Jr., set to debut sometime in 2013, will also rock a huge Conan o’Brien-style orange mane.

    (congrats, man)

  10. YAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!! :D Félicitations to you and your wife!

I suddenly got an image of your T-Shirt shop selling some Invading Holland onesies, for those Dutch parents-to-be who want their kids to rock out in awesome style, ha ha.

As for coffee that raises the dead: if needed, I will gladly send you a couple of packets of Cuban coffee. That’ll raise the dead AND make them dance to “Thriller.” :P

Congratulations are in order. i see the Dutch are continuing with their nefarious plan to assimilate the rest of the human race and have found you to be a willing slave to their cause. Resistance, it would seem, was futile!

    Hi there Stuart,
as a German ‘allochtoon’ living and working in Holland I stumbled over your blog by random surfing a few weeks ago. I read a few posts and liked it so much that I went back to the very first post.
I work as a callcenter agent and when there’s little traffic (on the phone, not in the street) i have a couple of minutes between two calls to spend in whatever way seems right to me.
And so for the last weeks I spend my free minutes with reading your blog all the way from 2006 to now.
Today I finish with this wonderful news. I want to congratulate you so much! I became father just about a year ago and I’m looking forward to your comentary on those experiences.
A funny thing btw. I’m an amateur actor and in the play I’m currently in i just happen to have a colleage that knows you in person. In fact your blogpost about you being judged as mentaly disabled happened at her house. The world is such a small small place.

For now enjoy the pregnancy and all it’s side effect on the supporting male.
I will stay loyal to your posts and wish you all the best.

Likeahike – I don’t but I might have to get one at some point :)

Johannes – Thank you for your amazing comment. I’m honoured that (despite only finding my blog recently) you read the whole thing from beginning to… well I can’t say end because it’s still growing but you know what I mean :p

And it’s amazing to discover you know someone I know as well. In fact I know which play you are talking about as well and my wife will be there to see it tomorrow night. Just look out for the pregnant lady with ginger hair :p

  31. Shamin says:

gefeliciteerd.. resistance is futile :) So is the blog title going to read invasion failed :)

    Life changes now….

  32. Sandra says:

Congratulations, Stu to you both!!! Such good news!! :-))
PARABENS!! (portuguese word for congrats ;-)

  33. Invader Stu says:

Shamin – What do you mean the invasion failed? I’m creating a little sleeper agent and growing my forces. The invasion is not even close to over. Holland will be mine. Mahahaha.

  34. Hi, congratulations on your becoming a father in the nearest future! I can totally see why you’re excitingly panicking because after all, you’re going to have a baby and that’s scary. I am soon to become a third-time mom, and I am just as excited and just as close to panic as with my first child. Your advice not to panic is straight on, so let’s not panic, OK? Don’t panic? AAAAAAArgh!
