Stuart

Stuart is an accident prone Englishman who has been living in the Netherlands since 2001. Even his move to the country was an unintentional accident, the result of replying to a cryptic job advertisement he found one day in a local British magazine. Since then he has learned to love the Dutch (so much so that he married one of them) and now calls the country home. He started the blog Invading Holland in 2006 as a place to share his strange stories of language misunderstandings, cultural confusions and his own accident prone nature.

Me too, Stu. The only difference between winter and summer is that in summer the rain is warmer.

  2. Wait a minute. Does the sudden leap from “Winter” to “Spring” mean that trees and flowers don’t bloom until it’s “autumn?” The fact that “Spring” is a bit “lent” in arriving may explain that. (“Lente” is the feminine adjective for “slow” in French.)

(Reminds me of the bit from Monty Python’s Quest for the Holy Grail when they’re talking about the seasons being chronologically messed-up.)

You need to stop trying to understand the Dutch weather and start loving it! :))

This (rather warm) winter has been particularly confusing as I keep hearing from my friends in the deep southern states in the US talking about snow. It’s all a bit mad. Still, my birthday is coming up in a few weeks. That’s usually when winter weather likes to arrive.

I’m conused by all the weather reports coming out of England as well which would seem to suggest that Armageddon is happening over there.

And Happy birthday… for when it comes up soon!

Nice drawings. I’ve given up on understanding Dutch weather. The forecasts are unreliable too. Looking out of the window is the best option most days.

At least you can get to your house with dry feet now and in the years to come…

Totally true :-) I think in the UK it is most of the time rain, rain and again rain.

The weather in England is totally crazy. We had another hurricane last night. Luckily we live in London not in the country. They’ve had it so bad they have now called in Dutch engineers to sort it out.

Just like the Swedish weather :)

I LOVE the Dutch weather (so far. I’m in my 2nd year here) anything is better than Hoquiam in Washington State US- 90% rain throughout the year
