Alex Goes Camping
Our young guest writer Alex de Leeuw returns to tell us all about how he spent his weekend in the sunshine. Alex is Dutch (and quite young) but don’t worry, translations have been provided.
Dit weekend hebben wij gekampeerd!

This weekend we went camping!
Dit is mijn tent. Het is heel groot. Vind je het mooi?

This is my tent. It’s very big. Do you like it?
Het was heel warm…
–
It was very hot…
…dus ik heb heel veel zonnebrandcreme op gedaan.

…so I put on lots of sunscreen.
Toen heb ik in de zon gezeten en een boek gelezen…

Then I sat in the sun and read a book…
…en gefiets. “Kijk! Geen handen!”

…and rode a bike. “Look! No hands!”
Het was heel warm, dus ik heb lekker in het water gepoedelt.

It was very, very warm so I went for a paddle in the water.
“Hhmmm… Ik hoop dat het water niet te koud is.”
–
“Hhmmm… I hope the water is not too cold.”
“Maar één manier om er achter te komen.”
–
“Only one way to find out.”
“Ahhh… Het is precies goed.”
–
“Ahhh… It is just right.”
Na het zwemmen kreeg ik erg veel trek…

After my swim I was getting very hungry…
Dus zijn wij gaan barbequen. “Ta-da!”

So we started a barbeque. “Ta-da!”
Ik mocht zelfs wat grillen…
–
I was even allowed to do some cooking…
…maar ik denk dat ik meer moet oefenen. Deze worst is heel erg verbrand.

…but I think I need more practise. This sausage is very burnt.
Aan het einde van de dag ga ik slapen in mijn tent. Het is cool om in een tent te slapen en ik had echt een leuke dag.

At the end of the day I went to sleep in my tent. It is really cool to sleep in a tent and I had a really fun day.
It looks like fun Alex! You had good weather :-). You did not get sunburned?
Hooray for Alex! He and Artie Aardvark really need to meet up sometime…
Lovely to see Alex again! It was time he got out in the sun :-)

AQK1982 – No. I made sure I put on lots and lots of sunscreen. I burn easily with my ginger fur.
Yvette – That would be a lot of fun.
