Het Parool

Regular readers who picked up a copy of Het Parool this morning might have been more then a little surprised to discover this article as they slowly read through its pages with their morning coffee:

Het Parool Interview

Hopefully you did not have your mouth full of coffee at the time otherwise it might have gotten quite messy. I know I was both shocked, happy and delighted when they contacted me and asked if I would like to do an interview. It is a huge honour.

If you read the news paper today and are visiting Invading Holland (know now as Accidentally Dutch) for the first time; Welcome. My name is Stuart and it is a pleasure to meet you.

Stuart

Stuart is an accident prone Englishman who has been living in the Netherlands since 2001. Even his move to the country was an unintentional accident, the result of replying to a cryptic job advertisement he found one day in a local British magazine. Since then he has learned to love the Dutch (so much so that he married one of them) and now calls the country home. He started the blog Invading Holland in 2006 as a place to share his strange stories of language misunderstandings, cultural confusions and his own accident prone nature.

I was one of the Dutchies reading “Het Parool” and got pleasantly surprised by the “Invading Holland” article.

Being abroad a few times a year, it is sometimes hard to explain the people I meet there about those typical Dutch things you – and your commenters – ran (and still run) into. Heck, at times I’m flabbergasted into things I run into myself, and I seem to be a native around here (though with Wilders, I’m not so sure any more).

Congrats with your bloggies nomination. I will certainly vote for your blog!

And thanks to all the commenters, as their contribution is a very integral part of your blog.
